EQUANS are looking for a Static Technical Operative (Multiskilled) working on our HMCTS contract in Croydon. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
Equans provide technical and soft services to our client HMCTS across a large portfolio of buildings across the UK. As part of the service, we provide low voltage electrical maintenance and installation services, and because of business growth, we are recruiting for additional roles to provide these services for our customer.
Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical planned preventative maintenance and reactive tasks.
- Complete reactive tasks throughout the sites and proactively highlight improvement areas.
- Ensure consumables available for maintenance and reactive works; provide parts lists and estimated timescales.
- Complete all relevant paperwork/CAFM for planned and reactive activities and submit to contract administrator.
- Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
- Develop good working relationships with Equans staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, wearing uniform and PPE.
- Present a professional image of Equans to clients at all times.
- Keep plant rooms under Equans responsibility clean and tidy.
- Supervise and monitor sub‑contractors’ work on site for electrical and FM related tasks.
- Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice; be flexible in working patterns.
- Undertake lone working where required, subject to satisfactory training.
- Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed appropriately.
- Comply with contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Keep CAFM system (e.g. Maximo) up to date and close out PPM and reactive tickets with accurate data.
- Carry out any other tasks directed by the account management team.
- Provide support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.
Client / Customer
- Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
- Produce information for quotations.
Helpdesk - PPM
- Support the Helpdesk when reporting or updating planned and reactive activities.
- Be available for out of hours call‑out support for the contract if required.
Compliance
- Obtain Technical Appointments as required (e.g. LVCP, Water Hygiene CP) to permit lamp changing and L8 activities such as tap flushing.
- Produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports for fabric assets.
- Inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.
SHEQ
- Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager.
- Adhere to company health and safety policy.
- Ensure PPE is safe to use.
- Report accidents and near misses timely.
- Keep test equipment calibrated.
- Follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Impact
Work to a high standard of service; be fully reliable and competent as a Handyman/Fabric Tech who can work independently, within a team or oversee subcontractors, producing good quality reports on findings and work.
Complexity
The successful candidate must work unaided, build rapport with end users and customers, promoting Equans values.
Qualities
- Excellent knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and/or painting/decorating techniques.
- Eye for detail and conscious of quality standards.
Qualifications or Required Experience
- Recognised Electrical engineering qualification (essential).
- 18th Edition wiring regulations (essential).
- City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Desirable).
- Obtain AP status within 3 months (ENGIE LV rules).
- First Aid at Work.
- Experienced fault‑finding skills in control, lighting, power systems.
- Experience in leisure/public venue environment.
- IPAF certificated for 3a & 3b machines (Desirable).
- Experience in BMS fault‑finding (advantage).
- Understanding of L8 ACOP (Desirable).
- Robust understanding of Health and Safety.
- Knowledge of Permit to Work system and experience issuing PTW (Desirable).
- Effective communication with customers at site level.
- Compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out reasonable tasks that support the account and business.
- Manage and prioritize workload.
- Ensure compliance with contract KPIs and SLAs with support of Engineering Supervisor.
- Participate in out of hours call‑out service on rota basis.
