Equans is looking for a Commercial Manager to join the team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package. The post holder will be working on one of our national accounts where they can be based anywhere in the UK.
The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial delivery of a significant FM service contract within EQUANS Sustainable Facilities Management Division and support other contracts in the wider portfolio as required. They will provide contract commercial management and profit improvement, risk and opportunity management along with a focus on compliance. In addition, they may be required to support growth within existing contracts as well as new business development initiatives to extend the suite of contracts in the region.
The Commercial Manager will manage numerous stakeholder relationships, including external relationships with clients, suppliers, and leadership functions. Holding collective responsibility with the commercial team to improve operations and deliver against financial plans.
What will you deliver?
- Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager in the satisfaction of contract and company objectives
- Taking the lead with clients directly to identify and resolve variations from the contract deliverables
- Participating in bid governance processes including presenting to Sector/Division levels
- Negotiating, on an equitable basis, internally and externally to ensure that the business is not exposed to risk
- Leading in all dispute resolution activity in these contract areas or having a thorough input into the dispute resolution activity
- Working within contract review and governance frameworks
- Dealing reactively in mitigation key risk areas as they arise and providing support to Finance and Operations to resolve in a timely manner
- Working within the operating environment to ensure EQUANS Code of Conduct is thoroughly understood, adhered to and promoted across the business to ensure safe, compliant and consistent working practices
- Behaving with integrity and demonstrating a professional image at all times. To always do what is right
- Taking personal responsibility & accountability for actions, constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations ensuring safety and quality are never compromised

Who are we looking for?
- Suitable commercial experience, experience of FM contracts would be beneficial
- Educated to degree/diploma level in either Law, Business, Surveying (Building/Quantity), or the Built Environment (FM, Land)
- Understanding and practical application of base English law applicable to contracts generally and the FM industry
- Excellent financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy
- Skilled negotiator with proven experience in a commercial environment
- Sound understanding of risk analysis/management
- PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- This role includes a DBS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.
