Working in partnership with North Tyneside Council, Equans is looking for a Benefits Administrator to join our team in Newcastle on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £24,570, hybrid working and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

EQUANS work in partnership with North Tyneside Council to process Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and Discretionary Housing Payments.

Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and other Council Tax discounts assists many of the residents in the borough. Whilst we have a Customer Service Team who deal with most front facing enquiries you will still have contact with claimants via the telephone, email, and letter.

You will join a high performing team, who meet their monthly key Performance Indicators and have exceeded them on many occasions.

Emphasis is on accuracy and whilst speed of processing is important, we do not lose sight of the customer and the impact our decisions can have on them.

Full training will be provided alongside generic future development across the service in areas of Council Tax processing, Recovery and HB Overpayments to meet service demands if necessary

Who are you?

  • Experience of working with, understanding and meeting the needs of customers in a customer service environment (1 year minimum).
  • Experience in a Revenues and Benefits Service (or equivalent e.g. DWP, Housing) is desirable, however full training will be given.
  • Is motivated by and enjoys helping people.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for imparting and sharing knowledge with others and helping to develop people.

This role includes a Basic DBS check therefore ability to pass is essential.
