EQUANS are recruiting for an Apprentice Plumber - Heating Engineer to be based in Rotherham to work on the Rotherham Borough Council contract. This is a 36‑month apprenticeship working 4 days per week with one day at college. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
The Apprentice Plumber supports the delivery of plumbing installations, maintenance and repairs on construction sites under the supervision of qualified plumbing professionals. This role is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified plumber through a combination of on‑the‑job training and formal study. The Apprentice Plumber will contribute to the successful completion of construction and refurbishment projects in line with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist qualified plumbers in the installation, maintenance and repair of domestic and commercial plumbing systems.
- Learn and apply knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, heating and drainage.
- Support in the use, care and maintenance of tools, materials and equipment.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, supporting team efficiency.
- Attend and participate in training sessions, both on‑site and in a classroom setting, to fulfil apprenticeship requirements.
- Accurately complete all apprenticeship documentation and learning records.
- Engage positively with colleagues, supervisors and training providers.

Who are we looking for?
Essential
- A minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Genuine interest in pursuing a career in plumbing and construction.
- Willingness to commit to a structured apprenticeship training programme.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely on a construction site.
Desirable
- Previous work experience (paid or voluntary) in a construction or mechanical environment.
- CSCS card or willingness to obtain one prior to site work.
