Overview

EQUANS is looking for a Multiskilled Electrician on a permanent basis. This role is based in Salford, working for the Tameside and Salford Hospitals contract. Shifts alternate between 7:00–15:00 and 10:00–18:00. The salary is £36,000 plus an on-call allowance of £2,083 and a benefits package.

Equans are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Technician – Electrical, based at Salford Royal Hospital, with potential infrequent coverage at Tameside General Hospital. The Technician is responsible for the technical performance and maintenance standards at Salford Royal Hospital, providing guidance on site and applying expertise in Electrical systems. The role supports compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery and involves being part of the out-of-hours on-call rota.

Working hours are 37.5 hours per week with a rotating pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure workload is planned, delivered to specification and agreed service requirements.
  • Plan, prioritise and resource projects.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures; maintain up-to-date knowledge of health & safety and environmental regulations.
  • Install, maintain and repair plant equipment.
  • Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems and monitor facility performance through the PPM programme; identify any additional works required.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Administer and complete relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Understand and meet ongoing customer requirements; develop effective working relationships with business partners, including subcontractor management; complete all relevant permits.
  • Maintain a fair, consistent and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.
  • Full driving licence required.
  • Maintain a smart appearance and professional manner representative of Equans in the workplace.
  • Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and resolve them.
  • Report all issues to the Technical Services Supervisor/Technical Services Manager as required.
  • Attend training courses funded by Equans as required for business purposes.
  • Train to become an Authorised Person/Responsible Person in relevant disciplines (additional salary uplift awarded).

Qualifications and experience

Required:

  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • 18th Edition.
  • Experience with lighting and small power circuits.
  • Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Ability to measure and work to plans (method statements), and read technical diagrams.

Desirable:

  • PFI/Healthcare experience would be an advantage; further formal training and familiarisation will be offered for the right candidate.
  • Experience with reviewing detailed schematics.
  • Experience with Building Management System (BMS).
  • PPM and Reactive Work experience.
  • Authorised Person/Competent Persons experience.
