EQUANS are looking for 2x Maintenance Assistants for our Pinderfield & Pontefract Hospital contract in Wakefield. This will be a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

As part of the Technical Services team, the post holder will ensure the safe completion of repairs, minor planned installations, and maintenance work on a wide range of equipment, building fixtures and plant, to the highest of standards for our clients.

Responsibilities

Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on lighting, water and heating services, and reactive repairs to building fabric such as plasterwork, floor coverings, and ceramic tiles as required. Work collaboratively with the wider M&E team and other trades, and undertake additional tasks as required.

Complexity

  • Work with and assist electrical, mechanical, plumbing, joinery trade personnel as directed.
  • Work and assist external contractors as required.
  • Liaise with hospital staff on a daily basis.
  • Carry out minor maintenance works and repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and joinery equipment (e.g., blocked sinks, toilets, lamp replacement, general repairs to fixtures and fittings, minor redecoration).
  • Conduct HTM 04-01 Legionella and water hygiene checks.
  • Perform general labouring duties and other works commensurate with the grade, personal abilities and experience.
  • Maintain records and complete service reports as appropriate.
  • Adhere to H&S policies and comply with Safe Systems of work, and statutory regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH, etc.
  • Maintain, adjust and operate associated trades machinery.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate work and maintenance records.

The MA role may require participation on a shift roster, including unsocial hours (shift allowance paid). The post holder is responsible for reporting any accidents, complaints, equipment defects, near misses, and untoward incidents following WQUANS procedure.

Qualifications or Required Experience

  • Basic education to GCSE/\’O\’ Level in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of general maintenance (beneficial).
  • Previous experience in a similar role (desirable, but not essential).
  • C&G Certificate – Inspection and testing of Portable Electrical Appliances (desirable).
  • Must have or be able to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
