We have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Energy Engineer interested in supporting the development of innovative decarbonisation projects across the UK. This role offers hands-on experience in low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainable design, contributing to the UK\'s net-zero goals.
Our Carbon Shift consulting business is focused on the delivery of realisable climate action and net zero plans and is supported by delivery capability in heat decarbonisation, regeneration, Facilities Management, Project delivery, EV\'s, smart buildings and renewables. Carbon Shift has developed a strong expertise and client base around net zero and energy transition and is now moving to expand this offer into offering solutions to the broader climate adaptation and resilience challenge.
Key activities
- To undertake a range of energy simulations, analysis and reporting processes, using a range of software tools and analysis techniques. To assist in the preparation and appraisal of techno-economic business cases for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
- Assist in the preparation of client-facing proposals and reports, such as outline / tender proposals, technical submittals reports - using standard templates and processes developed by Equans Carbon Shift.
- To aid in the development of new renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, through production of energy simulation models - to advise team members on options to improve energy performance, born from observations made in simulation modelling options.
- To assist in Techno-economic Appraisals, including monetisation of annual energy demands and generation, payback analysis, internal rate of return / net present value assessments and various other economic indices. Quantification of carbon emissions / abatement post implementation.
- To contribute to the implementation of new energy and techno-economic analysis techniques, software and tools.
- Liaise with key technology manufacturers to gain knowledge and expertise in technology capabilities and their prospective application to projects. Undertake discrete assessments of cost benefit and compatibility with project-specific requirements.
- Liaise with operational teams, to aid in the implementation of post-construction energy performance monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with colleagues, consultants and clients on project delivery.
- Analyse energy consumption data and identify opportunities for carbon reduction.
- Stay updated on UK energy / decarbonisation policy, regulations and decarbonisation strategies.

- Bachelor or Master\'s Degree in applicable Engineering or Sciences

- Strong mathematical and analytical skillset
- Knowledge of industrial standards / guidance\'s / good practice, regulatory frameworks
