The predicted salary is between 25000 - 31500 £ per year.

Location: North Lanarkshire Schools, Bellshill ML4 3LR. Permanent, full‐time, 40 hours per week. Salary £30,000–£31,500 depending on skills and experience, plus benefits package.

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Full driving licence required. Use of own vehicle; expenses paid.

What will you deliver?

  • Assist with and conduct the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of fabric assets across the school estate, including external works.
  • Perform basic servicing, repairs and fault‐finding on plumbing and fabric fixtures and equipment, reporting as required.
  • Ensure all installations, maintenance and repairs meet the requirements of the appropriate SFG20 and related documentation or relevant trade standards.
  • Undertake point‐of‐work risk assessment prior to starting work, evidencing it is safe to proceed.
  • Prepare and use risk assessments and methods statements (RAMS) for all tasks undertaken.
  • Clear blockages in drainage pipework and clean gullies, grates, and traps; use correct PPE; attend fabric‐related tasks such as replacing door handles, door stops, tightening hinges, and external works relating to hard‐standing areas, slabs, monoblock, etc.
  • Maintain storerooms and working environment in a clean, tidy, and safe condition.
  • Learn new skills with training as necessary (e.g. statutory ladder inspections, floor welding, first aid, COSHH, etc.). Development through PD plans.
  • Training in mobile elevated working platforms (MEWP), assembly/disassembly of mobile access towers (PASMA) and confined‐space medium risk may be required.
  • Cover sickness and holidays in the janitorial role across the North Lanarkshire High School estate when required.
  • Operate within a shift rota, be available for overtime as needed, and perform any additional duties, as directed by line manager.
  • Participate in an on‐call rota system.

Who are we looking for?

  • Essential: Practical skills in basic maintenance tasks (plumbing, fabric, electrical, external works). Experience in a similar role or related field is advantageous. Good literacy and numeracy skills, with qualifications in maths and English. Ability to troubleshoot and address maintenance issues efficiently. Proficiency at a good standard with office applications and devices such as PDA.
  • Desirable: Trade‐related qualification aligned to facilities management and/or building services. Familiarity with the educational sector and day‐to‐day operation and maintenance of various building types. Full valid driving licence.
