EQUANS are looking for a Grounds & Gardens Operative working on our Tameside General Hospital contract in Ashton-under-Lyne. This is a permanent full-time role, 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Work within a team providing an essential grounds and gardens maintenance service to the site; keep the site clear of litter and organic debris and neat at all times.
- Prioritise workloads with own initiative; collaborate with the wider team to provide a first-class service to our client.
- Assist the Grounds Supervisor in delivering a professional grounds maintenance service and maintain a positive image of the Hospital and clients.
- Maintain a litter-free site; remove litter, cigarettes, debris and leaves.
- Progress planned maintenance of external litter bins and cigarette disposal bins, including removal and disposal of refuse bags, cleaning/disinfecting receptacles before replacement bags.
- Operate electrically powered water-jetting units to remove graffiti and extraneous accumulations from walls, floors, and equipment.
- Progress maintenance of formal bedding areas (digging over, hoeing, fertiliser/applications, planting, staking, pruning) in line with approved horticultural practices.
- Maintain hard landscaped areas (paved areas, walls, etc.).
- Assist estates department’s general building activities to ensure safe and efficient maintenance of the estate.
- Carry out a comprehensive grass cut as required and sign off jobs on a PDA.
- Clear frost, ice and snow from highways, carparks, footpaths, ramps and stairways using salt and ice dispersants, manually and with gritting equipment.
- Complete relevant planned preventive maintenance and reactive paperwork; participate in on-call rota.
Qualifications or Required Experience
- Experience of PFI and/or healthcare environment essential.
- Experience of working with members of the public and customer focus.
- Experience of grounds maintenance.
- PA1 & PA6 spraying licence.
- Full UK driving licence.
