About the Role
As a Project Engineer within DG8, you will take technical responsibility for the compliant delivery of assigned projects, leading all linked disciplines to ensure solutions meet relevant legal, safety, and quality standards, within agreed timescales. You will lead engineering and design-led projects from start to finish, managing communication between customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery. This includes the production and checking of technical documentation and drawings to agreed standards. The role also includes a range of supporting activities such as site surveys, on-site support, and testing activities, while ensuring delivery within budgetary and programme constraints.
Key responsibilities
- Take technical responsibility for all assigned projects.
- Lead engineering and design-based projects from concept through to implementation.
- Manage communication between customers, stakeholders, and internal project teams.
- Produce and check technical documentation and engineering drawings in line with agreed standards.
- Ensure all work is independently checked and meets required quality standards.
- Undertake site surveys and provide on-site support for installations, testing, and inspections, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Apply relevant legal and safety standards to all project activities.
- Support project planning, reporting, and resource management.
- Support business development activities and promote the company's capabilities where possible.
Requirements
- Degree qualified (BEng/MEng) in a relevant engineering discipline (2:2 or above preferred).
- Understanding of the UK Rail Industry and associated standards and regulations.
- Proven experience delivering engineering or design-led projects.
- Chartered status (IMechE, IET or similar) or working towards it.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site visits.
