About the role

A Junior Dealer / Business Development Manager at the Equals Group is a commercially driven and proactive individual focused on acquiring and managing clients with international payment needs. Combining business development with client relationship management, they take ownership of the full sales cycle—from prospecting and onboarding through to transaction execution and ongoing account growth. Working closely with the Division Manager and wider team, they build and manage their own pipeline, convert new business opportunities and support clients with day‑to‑day payment activity. They play a key role in driving early client engagement, increasing transaction frequency and identifying opportunities to introduce additional products such as FX services and cards. An ambitious and detail‑oriented professional, they are confident in managing client relationships, executing transactions and operating within defined risk and compliance frameworks. They take initiative to grow their portfolio, contribute to team revenue and continuously develop their commercial and product knowledge within a fast‑paced financial services environment.

  • Business Development & Prospecting
    • Conduct outbound prospecting via phone, email and LinkedIn to identify businesses with international payment and FX requirements.
    • Build, manage and maintain an individual pipeline of prospective clients through to conversion.
    • Arrange and deliver introductory meetings, product demonstrations and client presentations.
    • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through onboarding to first transaction.
    • Prepare client proposals, discuss pricing within agreed parameters and complete timely follow‑ups.
    • Independently onboard and convert clients requiring international payment services.
  • Client Management & Growth
    • Act as the primary relationship contact for clients, providing ongoing support and service.
    • Maintain regular client contact to grow account usage and transaction frequency.
    • Re‑engage inactive or dormant client accounts to maximise retention and revenue.
    • Introduce and promote additional products including FX services, cards and platform capabilities.
  • Dealing & Execution
    • Execute international payments and manage day‑to‑day transactional activity for assigned accounts.
    • Provide clients with payment guidance, transaction support and operational assistance.
    • Identify FX opportunities within client accounts and refer complex or high‑value trades appropriately.
    • Support clients through trade execution and settlement processes where required.
    • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date CRM records of all client interactions, opportunities and transactions.
    • Operate within agreed pricing, transaction size and margin parameters at all times.
    • Escalate high‑risk, complex or high‑value transactions in line with internal procedures.
    • Adhere to all compliance, onboarding and operational processes and regulatory requirements.

Accountabilities

  • Achieve individual revenue and new business targets through consistent client acquisition and conversion.
  • Maintain a healthy and active sales pipeline, ensuring consistent progression of opportunities.
  • Deliver high levels of client activation, ensuring new clients complete their first transaction promptly.
  • Drive ongoing client engagement to increase transaction frequency and account value.
  • Ensure a high standard of client service, responsiveness and relationship management.
  • Accurately execute client transactions in line with operational procedures and service expectations.
  • Identify and escalate FX opportunities, contributing to overall desk revenue.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date CRM records, ensuring full visibility of pipeline and client activity.
  • Operate within agreed pricing, margin and risk parameters at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all compliance, regulatory and onboarding requirements.
  • Effectively manage risk by escalating complex, high‑value or unusual transactions where appropriate.
  • Contribute to team performance and overall division growth through proactive collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a sales or business development role.
  • At least 6 months’ experience in a dealing, trading or financial services environment.
  • Proven ability to generate new business through outbound prospecting and pipeline management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage client relationships.
  • Confidence in managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through to closing.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment with a commercial mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing multiple client accounts.
  • Basic understanding of international payments and foreign exchange products (or willingness to learn quickly).
  • Ability to operate within defined risk, pricing and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Demonstrates behaviours aligned with Equals Group values and culture.
  • Previous experience within FX, international payments or fintech environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in a client‑facing or relationship management role.
  • Understanding of foreign exchange markets, products and basic risk concepts.
  • Experience working with SMEs and corporate clients.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and KPIs.
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes and compliance requirements (e.g. KYC/AML).
  • Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce or similar platforms.
  • Ability to identify cross‑sell opportunities and promote additional financial products.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with a desire to develop within financial services.
