We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver to join our bakery and distribution team in Steeton on a temporary six-month contract. This is a varied, hands-on role involving the preparation, loading and delivery of bakery products and other goods to our retail shops. You will primarily cover three shops across Lancashire, although you may occasionally be required to cover other local delivery rounds during periods of absence.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, organised and comfortable with early starts. You will play an important role in ensuring our shops receive the correct goods safely, accurately and on time each day.

Role overview

You will report to our head office at approximately 6.00am each morning to prepare and load the delivery van before completing the daily delivery round. Once deliveries have been completed, you will collect empty trays and racks from each shop and return them to head office.

Your duties will include:

  • Arriving at head office at approximately 6.00am to prepare for the daily delivery round
  • Picking and packing ancillary goods for each shop based on information provided by reception
  • Loading bakery products and other goods onto the delivery van
  • Complying with all food hygiene and safe-handling procedures when picking, packing, loading and delivering bakery products
  • Delivering stock safely and efficiently to three shops across Lancashire
  • Checking that the correct goods are delivered to each location
  • Collecting empty trays and racks from the shops
  • Returning all empty equipment to head office after completing the delivery round
  • Providing cover for other delivery routes when required
  • Ensuring the delivery vehicle is loaded safely and kept tidy
  • Completing any required delivery records accurately
  • Carrying out additional ad-hoc duties to support the bakery and wider team
