Are you an experienced delivery driver who is ready to take on more responsibility while still being out on the road? We are looking for a Lead Driver / Transport Supervisor to join our bakery delivery operation in Harrogate. This is a hands-on driving role with additional responsibility for coordinating and supporting our team of drivers, organising daily deliveries and helping look after our fleet of eight company vans.
You will regularly complete delivery routes yourself, so we are not looking for someone who wants a desk-based transport management position. You might currently be a Senior Driver, Lead Driver, Driver Team Leader or experienced Multi-Drop Driver who has already started taking responsibility for other drivers, routes or the day-to-day running of a delivery operation.
The first 2 to 3 hours of each shift are spent working alongside the team to pack products, prepare orders and get everything ready for dispatch. Once the vans are ready to leave, you'll help coordinate the drivers and deliveries, as well as completing routes yourself.
Working closely with our Logistics Manager, you'll be one of the key people making sure our bakery products get where they need to be safely and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Regularly completing delivery routes yourself
- Leading and supporting the driver team day to day
- Coordinating daily deliveries and dispatching drivers
- Planning routes and allocating drivers and vehicles
- Working alongside the team to pack products for the first 2 to 3 hours of the shift
- Making sure orders are packed and loaded
