Full Time - Hours: 8:00 - 17:00 Mon-Fri
We are currently looking for Field Service Engineers to join the team within our Wallasey Service Centre, covering contracts in the following areas: Wirral, Wigan, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, South Sefton, Southport, and Formby. We welcome applications from people who reside in these areas.
As a healthcare equipment provider, we work in partnership with the NHS to supply the necessary equipment and aids to support people in their day-to-day life.
Job purpose: To enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service by completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge. Once fully trained, you will work in the field delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs, with the expectation that most jobs will be completed on a first-time fix basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service users' homes and NHS departments, ensuring compliance with the Company Infection Control Policy.
- Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field aiming for a first-time fix whenever possible.
- Completing all paperwork related to each job accurately to enable the administration team to update the database.
- Using any PPE supplied as instructed.
- Undertaking out of hours responsibility when rostered, once fully trained.
- Observing all regulations regarding the driving and use of the Company vehicle on public highways.
- Maintaining a tidy vehicle and replenishing necessary parts daily.
- Conducting weekly vehicle safety checks and van check sheets.
- Maintaining a professional customer service attitude and using discretion when dealing with service users and other agencies.
- Wearing uniform and identification badge, ensuring uniform is clean and laundered.
- Prioritising and organising workload, referring to Line Manager as appropriate.
- Being responsible for the maintenance and safe keeping of all tools and equipment provided by the Company.
- Agreeing to undertake all necessary training to maintain required skills.
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence
- Successful enhanced DBS check
- General workshop knowledge
- Basic electrical knowledge including 12v/24v D.C. systems
- Able to move and handle loads and equipment safely
- Experience of face-to-face customer contact
- Previous delivery driver experience
- An awareness and understanding of people with disabilities
- Flexible approach to working conditions and environment changes
- Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries of the role
- Ability to use a mobile phone to relay photographs
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to relay clear instructions to clients
- Awareness of hand-held scanners
Physical demands of the job:
- Moving and handling of equipment and accessories following handling guidelines
- Standing at a bench to work
- Kneeling/crouching in confined workspaces if necessary
- Use of ramps and other agreed moving equipment
Most challenging/difficult part of the role:
- Flexible working/responsive to changing priorities set by Line Manager or Customer Service team
- Availability for short notice overtime necessitated by emergency response requirements
- Responsibility of out of hours duties
