Heritage Carpenters / Architectural Joiners Location: Wiltshire Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday Contract: 12 Months Employment: Employed or Self-Employed Immediate Starts Available We are looking for experienced Heritage Carpenters / Architectural Joiners to join a major restoration project in Wiltshire. This is an excellent 12-month opportunity for skilled craftspeople with experience working on historic, listed or architecturally significant buildings. Both employed and self-employed applicants will be considered, with an immediate start available. Established in 1968, we are one of the UKs leading building and contents restoration specialists. Its skilled teams work on some of the countrys finest buildings, carefully preserving and restoring them to exacting standards. Role Overview You will work as part of an experienced site team, carrying out high-quality heritage carpentry and architectural joinery on a significant restoration project. The work requires accuracy, patience and a genuine understanding of traditional craftsmanship. You must be confident working with existing building fabric and completing repairs and new joinery that remain sympathetic to the character of the property. Your duties will include: Carrying out heritage carpentry and architectural joinery Repairing, restoring and replacing historic timber features Producing and fitting bespoke timber components Working on doors, windows, frames, panelling and other architectural features Using traditional joinery techniques and appropriate modern methods Working accurately from drawings, specifications and site instructions Matching existing profiles, details, materials and finishes Assessing whether historic timber can be repaired rather than replaced Using hand tools and woodworking equipment safely and effectively Ensuring all work is completed to an exceptionally high standard Working closely with site managers, other trades and conservation specialists Following all site health and safety procedures Maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment About You We are looking for highly skilled and dependable craftspeople who take genuine pride in their work. You will understand the care and attention required when working on historic buildings and be able to produce consistently high-quality work while meeting agreed project timescales. Skills and Experience Required Proven experience as a Heritage Carpenter, Architectural Joiner or skilled Site Joiner Previous experience working on historic, listed or high-specification buildings Strong knowledge of traditional carpentry and joinery techniques Experience repairing and replicating period timber features Able to interpret drawings, specifications and detailed measurements Confident using relevant hand tools and woodworking equipment Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship Able to work independently and as part of a site team Reliable, professional and committed to the full contract Available to begin work immediately or at short notice A valid CSCS card is essential Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling certification is required; these courses can be completed online before starting A relevant City
