We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work at one of our partner schools in Carmarthen, supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural support to engage positively with learning. This is a rewarding role for someone who is calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and committed to helping pupils develop self-regulation, confidence and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with challenging behaviour
- Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour within the classroom environment
- Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Support pupils to remain engaged in learning and access the curriculum
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a school or similar setting
- Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Understanding of behaviour as communication
- Ability to follow behaviour support plans and school policies
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with SEMH, ADHD or ASD
- Training in de-escalation or behaviour management
- Previous experience in a mainstream school setting
