The role

Lead Procurement and Commercial Manager to support SSE Renewables Offshore Development team in delivering the Berwick Bank Phase B project. Requires pre‑ and post‑contract experience of high‑value and complex offshore wind contracts.

As Lead Procurement and Commercial Manager for Berwick Bank Phase B you will be responsible for negotiating and delivering commercial contracts that underpin SSE’s ambitious project. You will collaborate across a range of stakeholders, manage complex contracts, supplier relationships, and ensure alignment with project goals and corporate objectives.

You will

  • Develop and deliver strategic procurement solutions for offshore wind, aligning commercial outcomes with SSE’s long‑term objectives and value commitments.
  • Build and manage high‑value supplier partnerships, driving performance, accountability, and mutual commercial success.
  • Lead, coach, and empower a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Own end‑to‑end commercial activities, including contract negotiation, optimisation of terms, and proactive risk management to protect value.
  • Drive cost competitiveness and value creation, identifying efficiencies and strengthening commercial performance across procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and project teams, using data‑led insights to inform decisions, optimise delivery, and support successful project outcomes.

You have

  • An understanding of offshore wind markets, contracting models, regional dynamics, commodities, and service requirements, supporting the development of robust early‑stage business cases through to fully negotiated contracts at construction.
  • Procurement or Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent direct entry to a recognised professional body preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role where you led a team, procured, and managed highly complex contracts, suppliers and sub‑contractors, and handled supplier vetting, development, and management.
  • Understanding of supply chain concepts and how to improve them.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder engagement and management skills, including the ability to influence, lead, resolve disputes, and problem‑solve.
