Base Location: You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth or Reading.

The role:
As a Senior Data Engineer within Energy Markets, you will play a key role in shaping how data supports safe, informed and forward-looking decisions across our trading and analytics teams. Working closely with Data Scientists, Traders, IT and Data Governance colleagues, you will design and deliver robust, trusted data pipelines and models that underpin critical operations. This is a collaborative and impactful opportunity to create solutions that are not only high-performing and scalable, but also secure, responsible and aligned to our long-term data strategy, where safety, reliability and quality are at the heart of everything we build.
You have:
- Design, build and continuously improve reliable, reusable data pipelines and models that support safe, efficient and high-quality decision making.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across business and technology teams to deliver data solutions that create meaningful commercial value.
- Champion best practice in data governance, security and quality, ensuring solutions are operationally robust and safe for production use.
- Explore and apply new technologies and approaches, helping evolve our data platforms while keeping long-term sustainability and safety in mind.
- Promote understanding and trust in data and analytics, sharing knowledge in an open, supportive and inclusive way.
You will:
- Have strong experience in Python/PySpark and SQL, with a confident and thoughtful approach to building data solutions.
- Have proven data engineering experience across data preparation, transformation and scalable processing of complex datasets.
- Have experience working with platforms such as Databricks, Azure, ADF, Streamlit or similar cloud-based technologies.
- Have a good understanding of data modelling, ELT patterns, and data governance and security best practice.
- Possess a curious, collaborative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly and build trusted relationships.
