Base Location: You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations – Glasgow or Perth.

Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role: We have an exciting opportunity to join SSE Renewables as a Commercial Finance Manager to partner our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery (“OWSB”) business focussing on the diverse cost base of the OWSB business including all operational assets in UK, Ireland and Europe. The role will concentrate on performance improvement, business analysis & insight, strategic business planning, budgeting & forecasting activities.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance OWSB and partnering with various senior business stakeholders, being the face of finance for the business with the core responsibility of the delivery of the monthly results and forecast, annual budget and 10-year plans.

You will:

  • Report, analyse, and advise on asset operational costs and all other costs in OWSB.
  • Execute month-end management reporting to ensure the appropriate MI is being used in decision making by both Finance and the Business.
  • Prepare, co-ordinate and lead robust Directorate forecasts, budgets and longer-term planning including stakeholder sign off, providing financial insight and challenge as necessary to ensure budgets are accurate, realistic, and aligned with the broader SSER strategy.
  • Work with the Operational and Commercial Teams as well as JVs to identify key risks and opportunities which will inform plans, forecasts and management reporting.
  • Calculate sensitivities in relation to risks/opportunities identified.
  • Build detailed understanding of cost base and contribute to or lead on business improvement / cost efficiency projects.
  • Support broader projects and pieces of work for the OWSB business as required.

You have:

  • 2-4 years post qualified experience in a Business Partner / Finance Manager / Management Accountant business-interfacing role with experience of solving business issues of similar scale and complexity.
  • Experience in interpreting and assimilating multiple data sources and rendering into meaningful insight and appropriate recommendations and clear actions.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, to embed financial understanding within the business, and with the confidence to challenge constructively.
