We are seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Intern to support the Private Capital Sustainability Team over a two-month period. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of sustainability and private capital investing, working closely with investment professionals and sustainability experts. The intern will work closely with the PC Sustainability team, focusing on one or two defined projects that contribute to the team’s value creation and portfolio management activities. Example projects may include developing and reviewing sustainability tools, frameworks, and playbooks that support portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Support one or more sustainability-focused projects, which may include:
- Sustainability Exit Playbook Development
- Develop a practical sustainability playbook to support portfolio company exits.
- Identify sustainability topics and performance indicators that are most relevant to prospective buyers and due diligence processes.
- Benchmark sustainability disclosure and value creation practices across leading private equity firms and portfolio companies.
- Create guidance on articulating sustainability achievements, value creation initiatives, and ESG performance during exit processes.
- Develop templates, case studies, and supporting materials for investment teams and portfolio companies.
- Additional Sustainability Projects (as relevant)
- Support the development of sustainability value creation frameworks for portfolio companies.
- Analyse portfolio company sustainability data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review and update sustainability materials and tools for internal stakeholders, portfolio companies, and external reporting.
- Contribute to sustainability thought leadership and best-practice sharing across the private capital platform.
- Strong academic performance in, for example, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering or a related field.
- Interest in private markets, investing, and social and/or environmental sustainability value creation and impact.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Strong written communication and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to structure information and develop practical, business-oriented recommendations.
- AI literacy and proficiency in standard tools eg. Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently on a defined project.
- Demonstrable interest in Sustainability.
- Exposure to sustainability integration within a leading private capital investment environment.
- Experience working on a strategic project with tangible business impact.
