Design the Operating System for 21st Century Childhood Learning.
If you could rebuild education from first principles – without compromise, without borders, and institutional drag – how would you do it?
That\’s not a rhetorical question.
That\’s the brief.
We\’re looking for one of the world\’s most formidable minds in learning systems design – a polymath fluent in pedagogy, cognitive science, systems architecture, and emergent technologies. Someone who doesn\’t just theorise about the post-industrial, post-siloed future of learning – but can build it.
This is not curriculum development.
This is experience systems engineering .
For childhood. For the planet. At scale.

About Bina
bina is a full-time, globally distributed online primary school, built from the ground up to reflect how children actually learn.
We serve learners aged 4-11 across 30+ countries in intentionally tiny, live classrooms (max 7 learners). Our pedagogy weaves together academic rigour , emotional intelligence , environmental consciousness , and radical curiosity – delivered through a research-based, tech-enhanced model that is adaptive, modular, and joyful.
- bina students perform in the top 8% globally (vs UK/US benchmarks)
- Classes are culturally diverse, child-led, and neuro-inclusive
- We are post-revenue, pre-Series A, and backed by SoftBank Asia, Sparkmind VC, and global leaders across education, neuroscience, and EdTech
- This is not a blank canvas – it\’s a thriving, proven ecosystem ready for transformation
And we\’re looking for the architect to lead that transformation.
The Role: Learning Architect
As Learning Architect, you\’ll lead the development of Precision Education at bina – a paradigm of highly personalised, data-informed, and emotionally attuned learning.
You will operate at the confluence of learning science , instructional systems design , EdTech architecture , and human development – building an operating system for learning that is modular , adaptive , and inherently global .
Your core responsibilities:
- Conduct R&D at the cutting edge of learning theory, cognitive science, AI, and game-based learning
- Translate international standards into a micro-credentialed, competency-based curriculum
- Design the pedagogical feedback engine: real-time adaptation of content, pacing, and context based on rich learner data
- Architect multi-sensory, multi-modal experiences that are joyful, inclusive, and deeply engaging
- Lead global design sprints with experts across child development, HCI, data science, and creative learning
- Define what evidence of learning looks like—seamless, longitudinal, and beautifully embedded in the experience
This is both theory and product. Vision and delivery. Rigor and play.
Requirements
Who You Are
We\’re very upfront – most candidates won\’t meet the unique requirements of this role.
But you – you\’ve already started sketching ideas in your head.
You are not simply \”qualified.\” You are operating at a level where your interdisciplinary intelligence resists classification. You blend research with systems thinking, and abstract ideas with execution.
You might be:
- A PhD-level learning scientist with strong product sensibility
- A curriculum theorist who prototypes in Figma and writes in Python
- A systems thinker who understands both the classroom and the cloud
- A designer who works in rubrics, emotion, and machine learning equally
Minimum thresholds:
- Doctorate (or equivalent depth) in Learning Sciences, Developmental Psychology, Curriculum Design, HCI, or related
- Proven leadership in designing standards-aligned, modular, or adaptive curriculum systems
- 7-10+ years in EdTech, R&D, or educational innovation, with global or cross-cultural reach
- Fluency in assessment design, competency mapping, and learning analytics
- Comfort collaborating with product teams, data engineers, and educators
- Experience designing for (or with) primary learners aged 5-11
Bonus signals:
- Experience with AI-enabled learning tools, game mechanics, or simulations
- Fluency in EdTech interoperability frameworks (xAPI, LRS, LMS)
- Track record of public thought leadership (publications, talks, field-defining work)
- Multilingualism, international schooling experience, or anti-colonial curriculum design perspective
What is Precision Education?
It\’s not personalisation. It\’s precision .
Precision Education means continuously orchestrating what , how , and when children learn – using real-time data, emotional context, and human intuition.
It\’s not adaptive software – it\’s responsive pedagogy , grounded in insight and delivered with elegance.
Imagine:
- A learner stalls on fractions – not due to misunderstanding, but because it\’s been 17 minutes since lunch.
- A co-play task reveals disengagement – not through scores, but play patterns.
- The system flexes – not once a term, but three times this week.
Now imagine that system working in 30+ countries – fluidly, beautifully, with joy.
That\’s what you\’re building.
