  • JOB SUMMARY

EQ8 Recruit has been engaged by a Client of ours who is seeking an experienced LNG Vessel Manager to join their Fleet Management team in London, United Kingdom.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of allocated vessels, including technical management, vessel performance, budget control, planned maintenance, dry docking, repairs and onboard crewing management.

Our client is an international LNG vessel owner and ship manager with a strong focus on safe vessel operations, technical management, vessel performance and meeting customer requirements.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

  • Class I or Class II Certificate of Competence, Engine
  • Advanced Tanker Safety Training in Gas, Liquid or Chemical
  • Experience sailing as 2nd Engineer, 1st Assistant Engineer or above, ideally having sailed onboard LNG vessels in these ranks
  • Strong technical and vessel management capability
  • Understanding of Safety Management System requirements
  • Experience with planned maintenance and vessel certification
  • Experience with dry docking, vessel repairs and Class and Flag surveys
  • Budget control and cost management capability
  • Ability to manage vessel performance and technical requirements
  • Experience with onboard crewing management
  • Strong planning, organisation, decision making, problem solving and leadership capability
  • Ability to undertake frequent worldwide travel, sometimes at very short notice
  • UK based candidates with the relevant skills and experience will be prioritised.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to

  • Act as the first point of contact for allocated vessels
  • Ensure vessels are operated safely and efficiently in accordance with the Safety Management System
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and international rules, Classification Society rules, international conventions, industry standards and company requirements
  • Prepare Maintenance Criteria in accordance with the Safety Management System
  • Manage repair work, parts, ship stores, lubricating oil and associated vessel requirements
  • Manage services relating to docking work and Class and Flag surveys
  • Attend vessels during dry docking and repair periods as directed
  • Monitor and close guarantee claims during newly delivered vessel guarantee periods
  • Collect and analyse ship performance data
  • Handle marine accidents relating to allocated vessels
  • Conduct ship inspections and prepare reports in accordance with company procedures
  • Monitor the Planned Maintenance System and validity of vessel certificates
  • Address overdue Planned Maintenance System requirements and provide guidance to vessels
  • Respond to technical and operational enquiries from stakeholders
  • Manage matters relating to crew assignment, training and evaluation
  • Prepare vessel annual budgets and manage allocated vessels within approved budgets without compromising safe operations
  • Maintain monthly account reviews
  • Review and approve requisitions, purchase orders and invoices
