Join a specialist engineering consultancy delivering low-carbon energy and infrastructure solutions. This role focuses on electrical design for renewable heat and power projects, supporting net zero and energy transition programmes across commercial and utility-scale developments. There will also be a focus on adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to develop practical, buildable designs from early concept through to technical delivery.
Role responsibilities and requirements:- Develop electrical designs for decarbonisation, energy centres, and heat network projects (concept to detailed design)
- Perform load calculations and size electrical systems (LV distribution, switchgear, equipment)
- Produce schematics, models, and layouts using design software (e.g. CAD/BIM tools)
- Support engineering analysis and validate system performance
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to deliver coordinated designs
- Contribute to technical specifications, reports, and tender documentation
- Assist with technology reviews and low-carbon solution appraisals
- Support grid connection applications and technical submissions
- Conduct surveys and integrate site data into designs
- Provide technical input during construction and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements
- Solid grounding in low-voltage electrical design
- Working knowledge of UK standards and regulations (e.g. wiring regulations, building standards)
- Ability to produce electrical schematics and system layouts
- Familiarity with lighting, power, data, and control systems
- Competence with industry design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit)
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and environmental factors
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Awareness of health & safety and design risk considerations
