Overview
HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5pm
REPORTS TO: Operations Director
To provide visible leadership and drive improvements in all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment & Quality, together with coordinating all continuous improvement activities. Deliver a culture where excellence in customer care is the norm and any product quality defects, non-conformances or reduction in service levels are not tolerated. Responsible for effective management and development of processes in-line with SHEQ standards. Ensure high levels of right-first time product quality and service levels are continuously achieved, monitored via KPIβs and provide fast resolution to any defects or customer concerns raised. Adopt structured quality techniques including APQP, FMEA, Pareto analysis and 8D problem solving. Lead PDCA problem solving initiatives to implement new ideas and improvements. Ensure operational standards and performance targets are consistently achieved. Provide effective communication across the business and drive a culture focused on improving SHEQ performance.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving improvements in product quality and service levels to deliver excellent standards of customer care, with regular feedback for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for effective and timely response to any customer concerns raised.
- Provide visible leadership in SHEQ standards, behaviours and systems of work.
- Responsible for effective SHEQ policies and systems for improved performance.
- Ensure a safe working environment with the goal of zero harm to employees.
- Promote a positive SHEQ culture with engagement, training and regular audits.
- Lead the HSE Committee with regular review and driving improved standards.
- Develop risk & COSHH assessments, SOPβs, incident alerts and care points.
- Responsibility for leading all continuous improvement, PDCA practical problem solving and lean manufacturing activities to achieve operational excellence.
- Responsible for measurement and testing of products for quality verification, together with adopting technology such as CMM systems for improving accuracy & repeatability.
- Lead introduction of best practice quality improvements using problem solving and CI techniques.
- Excellent standards of SHEQ & CI application, communication, personal discipline, time management, problem solving, continuous improvement and employee engagement.
- Maintain SHEQ KPIβs to monitor improvements, promote new ideas, CI & learning.
- Support and ensure full compliance with internal and external SHEQ audits.
- Ensure full compliance with UK SHEQ Regulations and company standards.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO45001, 14001 and 50001 standards.
- Support HR Department with information in relation to occupational health referrals
- Provide support and guidance to the Epwin Group on technical and legal issues.
- Responsible for driving improved SHEQ & CI standards with suppliers.
- Responsible for effective and timely response to any customer concerns raised.
- Responsible for all quality documentation, process capability studies, process auditing and maintaining equipment calibrations.
Key Experiences and Skills Required
- Good practical understanding of SHEQ management systems, continuous improvement, workplace organisation, safe working practices, visual management, PDCA problem solving, project management, lean manufacturing, six sigma and operations excellence is required.
- Good communication, engagement & rapport with customers, suppliers & employees at all levels is essential.
- +5 yearsβ experience in delivering SHEQ improvements using CI, problem solving, visual management and operations excellence tools within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
- NEBOSH certificate in managing health & safety.
- Experienced in delivering SHEQ and CI improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
