Overview
JOB TITLE: Materials Technology Graduate
Responsibilities
- Work alongside an experienced and well-established team to support learning for long term career growth in the area of polymer moulding and extrusion.
- Utilise learning to enhance material technology performance, whilst demonstrating good communication, drive, passion, project management and leadership.
- Deliver multiple continuous improvement projects relating to material optimisation, chemical formulation innovation, value engineering, & enhanced mixing plant operation.
- Further sustainable practices on site, with a focus on waste reduction, recycling and energy reduction.
- Closely supported by your assigned Mentor, you will be involved in hands on learning in the following operations areas:
- Extrusion
- Process Improvement
- Technical & Measurement
- New Product Design
Key Accountabilities:
- Support materials sourcing, testing and validation.
- Conducting product trials, formulation testing and site approvals.
- Continuous improvement with material optimisation and enhanced performance.
- Aiding in development of material formulations for cost reduction, improved quality and process stability.
- Work closely with Operations and Systems Technical for product quality & approvals.
- Support business with materials technology innovations for new product design.
- Work closely with material suppliers to develop market leading formulations.
- Further material waste reduction, recycling, sustainability and energy optimisation.
- Stay up to date on current news and regulations regarding PVC and relevant materials.
Qualifications
- Key Experiences and Skills Required:
- Knowledge and understanding in the areas of materials science/chemistry, with a focus on polymers.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, lead by example and resolve any problems quickly.
- Good communication, engagement & rapport with employees at all levels is essential.
- Professional, motivated and ethical approach to work, with a growth mind-set.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise key tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Degree qualified in Polymer Science, Chemistry or other materials science related disciplines.
- Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
- A full driving license is essential and flexibility to travel if required.
- Knowledge of extrusion and other relevant manufacturing technologies.
