Reports to: Senior Engineer
Shift: Three Rotational (20% shift allowance) - 6.00am to 2.00pm, 2.00pm to 10.00pm and 10.00pm to 6.00am
Main job functions:
- Ensure all machinery breakdowns are responded to quickly and efficiently, with logical fault-finding to identify root causes and carry out repairs to a high standard.
- Work closely with production staff to ensure line productivity performance, reduction in error counts, line cycle time, and quality is within standard.
- Carry out improvement work and modifications to improve overall line efficiency.
- Investigate, propose, and apply continuous process improvements, ensuring all pre and post data is captured to focus on recurring issues to help achieve/reduce quality DPM, customer complaints, and machine Productivity/OEE.
- Mentor junior members of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all staff specifically within the department.
- Carry out relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work prior to work commencing.
- Report any accidents or near misses and implement countermeasures as required within a suitable timeframe.
Quality:
- Ensure working to relevant standards and procedures, formulating engineering improvements with product quality in mind.
- Assist with the Production team's ongoing quality issues and propose engineering solutions to reduce DAS levels.
- Ensure control of all documentation in line with ISO standards and internal procedures.
Cost:
- Manage parts stock in line with departmental needs.
- Track all departmental spends on a controlled document.
- Get multiple quotes and try different vendors to ensure quality of purchased items and cost of new components to reduce costs.
Delivery:
- Focus all work on achieving plans and ensuring optimum line productivity; communicate any delays to relevant members and propose solutions to line stoppages to ensure maximum uptime.
- Work with Production members and other departments to ensure access to lines for required works or modifications.
Productivity:
- Maintain and continually improve staff work levels to ensure efficiency and achievement of preset objectives.
- Ensure continuous improvement is a focus on all Ink Engineering projects.
- Support Q2E targets from across production departments as required.
- Control all improvement works from cradle to grave, keeping all relevant members informed and updating documentation as needed.
Morale:
- Ensure good two-way communication between all members of the department.
- Help train Operators and junior mentors, supporting on-line as needed.
- Carry out all activities in line with company policies and procedures, continually looking to reduce waste and ensure correct waste segregation.
- Investigate, propose, and apply continuous improvements to existing machines.
- Promote and support internal companywide activities (Suggestion Scheme, SGA’s, 5S Activities, Audits etc.) in line with company targets.
General responsibilities:
- Lead by example and demonstrate a professional attitude.
- Comply with IT security policy and undertake duties with ISM requirements.
- Maintain 5S levels in line with showroom factory conditions.
- Adhere to Epson’s Environmental and quality policies and ISO 14001 and 9001 management systems.
- Ensure responsible waste management through waste segregation.
- Stay informed about environmental impacts in your role, working to prevent, minimise, and report potential pollution incidents, contributing to our commitment to sustainability.
- Undertake other duties as required within Epson.
Skills required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Take ownership of tasks.

Qualifications:
- HNC or NVQ4 in an engineering function.
- GCSE maths and English.
- Mechanical and/or Electrical qualifications.

- Working in a similar environment with similar equipment (FMGC).
