We have a great opportunity for a seasonal part-time plant area assistant in our popular local independent garden centre based in Ashtead, near Epsom. You will be supporting the plant manager and team in daily tasks such as providing excellent customer service, maintenance and care of plants including watering, taking deliveries, assisting with stock purchase and administration of orders, merchandising beautiful displays and maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the plant area. Some heavy lifting will be required and you will be working outdoors in all weathers. You will also be trained to operate the tills. Good communication skills and teamwork are essential; horticultural knowledge would be an advantage. We’d like you to start ASAP ready for the busy spring season.
Responsibilities:
- Support the plant manager and team in daily tasks, including customer service, maintenance and care of plants (watering) and taking deliveries.
- Assist with stock purchasing and administration of orders.
- Merchandise displays and maintain high standards of cleanliness in the plant area.
- Operate tills after training.
- Perform some heavy lifting and work outdoors in all weathers.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Good communication skills and teamwork are essential.
- Horticultural knowledge is advantageous.
- Availability: part-time, 9am–4pm, 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Must be able to work all 3 days.
