Are you looking to become a qualified Gardener and keen to join a friendly and small team, based in Epsom?

The Good Garden Company are a professional garden maintenance and planting company, providing a high standard of garden services for domestic and commercial gardens. The company is based in Epsom and covers gardens in Surrey, South London and the surrounding areas.

We’re looking for a full time Apprentice Gardener to join the team ASAP & start their apprenticeship at college in September or October 2025. The person will have a keen interest in becoming a qualified Gardener and enjoy working outside. Gardening experience is desirable but not essential.

You’ll join a friendly and sociable team and work in various gardens, alongside other team members. You’ll learn lots of new skills including use of garden machinery, plant knowledge, hedge works, customer service skills and basic garden design. The company provides professional development opportunities to employees who demonstrate the right attitude and commitment.
The team has grown steadily, and we’re looking for a Apprentice Gardener to support the team provide general garden maintenance and soft landscaping, including the creation of bespoke planting schemes.

The summer shift pattern is c. 7.45 am – 4.30 pm and winter shift pattern is c. 7.45 am – 4 pm.

Garden Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship is the Horticulture Operative Standard Apprenticeship which would start in September or October 2025. You’ll work 4 days per week during term time, extending to 5 days per week during college holidays.
We currently have one Garden Apprentice in the team, studying at Merrist Wood College. This team member has completed one year of study and would be a good support to the new Garden Apprentice we are looking to hire.

About you
• A keen interest in gardening and horticulture, keen to become a fully qualified Gardener, within a supportive and friendly team
• Previous gardening or outdoors experience is desirable, but not essential
• Good attention to detail and ability to produce a high standard of work
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Happy to work outside in all weather conditions
• You’ll be keen to learn, hardworking, reliable and able to use your initiative
• You’ll have both your English Level 1 & Maths Level 1 (optional for apprentices who are aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship training)
• Driving license is desirable but not essential

A DBS check will be carried out for this role.
The successful applicant will be subject to a 6 month probationary/trial period.
