Surrey Downs Health & Care Mary Seacole is a new integrated unit providing care and rehabilitation to promote health, maximise independence, and improve quality of life. All patients are treated with dignity and respect, involved in decisions at all stages of their treatment and care, and the team strives to achieve what matters most to the patients.

We are looking for dynamic, passionate, and motivated health care assistants willing to expand and develop their skills and knowledge while supporting patients and the team. The team work shift patterns, including long days and night shifts. You will work under the direct supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse to support and assist senior team members in providing high-quality care and promoting physical, mental, and emotional health to individuals and client groups.

As an effective member of the Multidisciplinary Team, you will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of the senior team member. You are responsible for your own practice, working within your competence and scope of role. The registered nurse retains accountability for the care delivered by the HCA.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Support and assist senior team members in providing high standards of care and promoting health and well-being.
  • Be an effective team member, carrying out direct care tasks delegated by senior staff.
  • Undertake clinical interventions as delegated.

Health Promotion

  • Participate in assessing care needs and implementing holistic care programs within set standards.
  • Support, educate, and inform families and carers where appropriate.
  • Assist in promoting health and well-being of patients.

Administrative and Clerical Duties

  • Maintain clear, comprehensive, signed, and up-to-date records according to SDHC procedures.
  • Handle telephone messages, respond, and liaise appropriately.
  • Manage stationery and documentation supplies.
  • Maintain data entry and record-keeping, such as mileage and annual leave on staff databases.

Team Working

  • Participate in team procedures and duties according to role standards.
  • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks as required.
  • Maintain regular communication with senior team members and report relevant issues.
