We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist our Private Sector Leasing & Temporary Accommodation Officer to help manage the Council's Temporary Accommodation & Private Sector Leasing service for homeless households. This pivotal role will be responsible for working alongside the Housing Options Team to assist people requiring temporary accommodation.
The role will involve closely liaising with our temporary accommodation providers, arranging placements of interim accommodation and undertaking all aspects of temporary accommodation management including tenancy sign-ups, rent accounting, inventory inspections, day-to-day repairs, voids, dealing with licence/tenancy breaches and health and safety issues.
We are looking for a team player capable of working in a busy and varied environment, who will be customer-focused, empathetic with a natural aptitude for dealing with any situation. You should have strong literacy and numeracy skills, excellent communication and organisational and IT abilities.
To be considered for this post you should have a knowledge and understanding of housing law, especially in relation to homelessness and housing management, as well as an understanding of the welfare benefits system. You must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle as some travel between neighbouring boroughs will be required.
We are a small local authority developing new and progressive approaches to housing service delivery. You will have exposure to a wide range of housing practices in your role and have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience in many areas of local authority housing operations. In addition, we will offer training and support to further your personal and career development.
You will also benefit from 25 days annual leave (extended to 30 days after 5 years' local government service), subsidised car parking and gym membership, and an entitlement to join the local government pension scheme.
