Job overview:

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our administrative team and support the coordination and scheduling of an expanded programme of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the administration and scheduling of day case, inpatient and outpatient activity for the Gastroenterology Service.
  • Work closely with the Administrative and Clerical team.
  • Act as the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to a patient’s care pathway.
  • Track and support patients from referral to treatment and/or discharge.
  • Manage and support queries from patients, clinicians and fellow staff.
  • Use telephone effectively and maintain high standards of customer service.
  • Work at both hospital sites each week.

Person specification:

Knowledge:

  • Computer literate, with experience of using a keyboard.
  • Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. PAS, Excel or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles.
  • Knowledge of health and safety.
  • Understanding of principles of equality and diversity.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
  • NVQ or working towards NVQ or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems.
  • Experience working with DictateIT3, iPM, iCM, iFIT.
  • Experience working in a similar patient administration role in a hospital/health care setting.

Skills:

  • Knowledge to recognise their needs and preferences.
  • Ability to provide a customer focused service.
  • Knowledge of dealing with customer complaints and experience of customer care.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively without direct supervision.
