Overview
To provide specialist Neurophysiological investigations in both adult and paediatric units within the department. The role involves investigating and reporting on a range of procedures, adapting practice to meet service area requirements and working in accordance with occupational guidelines set out for each investigation.
Responsibilities
- Be an independent practitioner at a specialist level in the performance of simple and complex Neurophysiological investigations.
- Demonstrate ability as a specialist physiologist in most, if not all, of the following areas.
- Routine adult EEGs (both in the department and on the ward, including ITU).
- Sleep Deprived EEGs in the department.
- Paediatric EEGs.
- Routine paediatric EEGs in the department and on the ward, including NNU.
- Sleep Deprived EEGs in the department.
- Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP).
- Spinal and Somato‑Sensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP).
- Upper Limb Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).
- Lower Limb NCS.
- Take clear and concise clinical histories.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance on equipment.
- Deal with children with special needs, challenging behaviour and autism as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Some experience performing and reporting on the above investigations to a high standard.
- Competent in routine calibration and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to adapt practice to meet requirements of the service area.
- Experience in working with paediatric patients, including those with special needs.
