We are seeking to appoint a forward‑thinking, dedicated and motivated clinical research fellow in the Department of Renal Medicine at St Helier Hospital. This research post is at Post CCT level and will be based at the St Helier hospital site, with a starting date of 30th September 2026 for an initial 12‑month term, extendable subject to satisfactory feedback and progression to support the candidate’s additional experience requirements.
This post would suit a candidate who is looking to conduct supervised Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) clinical training (plus physician‑led PD catheter insertion) and gain additional experience in other aspects of Renal Medicine. It is particularly suited for those who have completed specialist training (with a national training number) and are due to obtain CCT in Renal medicine by the job joining date.
As the post holder you will be expected to perform clinical duties and carry out responsibilities expected of ST4+ level doctors and will work as one of a team of 9 registrars. You will provide ST4+ on‑call cover for the Renal Service in a 1 in 9 rota. Candidates with CCT in Renal Medicine will also be allowed to develop other subspecialty interests during this tenure, in addition to PD.
Adequate clinical management skills and research opportunities are available to nurture individual career aspirations. The unit supports clinical research fellows in submitting abstracts to international and national conferences and has a very consistent and good track record. The post holder can get trained in clinical research methodology, laboratory techniques, basic and translational research methodology with support from a wide consultant expertise group.
Salary: £67,325 to £76,582 a year per annum excluding LW (depending on experience).
