The predicted salary is between 37338 - 44962 £ per year.

Fixed‑term 6 to 12 months in Critical Care (ICU and HDU) at Epsom and St. Helier. The main aim of the post is to enable the post holder to recognise potentially life‑threatening situations and equip them with the knowledge and skills to initiate immediate resuscitative measures. The role will also provide training in the appropriate use and interpretation of cardio‑pulmonary monitoring. Training will be competency‑based, following the recommendations of the Inter‑Collegiate Board for training in Intensive Care Medicine, with continuous assessment and 360‑degree appraisals. Regular consultant‑led teaching sessions are scheduled.

The successful candidate will be able to develop research and education skills and will be supported at all times by the Consultants while supervising junior fellows. Depending on experience and seniority, the rota slot will be allocated either on the senior tier or junior tier. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic people to join our dedicated team in Critical Care. The team consists of 11 consultants, 24 junior doctors, and over 100 nurses and AHPs in our two Critical Care units.

Unit details: St Helier ICU has 13 beds and provides full level 3 and 2 care; Epsom HDU has 6–8 level 2 beds. Annual admissions total 1,400 patients, including 700 emergency medical, 350 emergency surgical, and 350 post‑operative elective patients. The units support research and education and contribute to national audits (ICNARC, NELA, PQIP). Current SMR is 0.81. Since 2020 the organisation has been short‑listed twice for the national Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership award and has produced several peer‑reviewed publications. The Trusts are part of the St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group, which serves four million people in South West London and North East Surrey, and includes St George’s Hospital (major trauma centre), St Helier Hospital and Epsom Hospital.
