An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Superintendent role at Epsom General Hospital. The MRI unit has recently undergone renovation and now features a newly installed Siemens Sola MRI scanner with advanced cardiac imaging capability, and a GE Artist MRI scanner covering multiple specialties. This modernised facility offers advanced imaging capabilities and an excellent environment for delivering high-quality patient care and developing MRI services.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, operational, and strategic leadership for the MRI service, including day‑to‑day running of the department.
- Ensure safe, efficient service delivery and maintain high standards of patient care.
- Manage and support the MRI team, coordinate staffing and training, and promote continuous professional development.
- Ensure compliance with MRI safety standards, national guidelines, and quality assurance processes, supporting clinical governance and audit activities.
- Plan services, optimise workflow and patient pathways, support implementation of new techniques such as advanced cardiac MRI, and collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead the delivery of a safe MRI service for all users, involving research, audit activity, user involvement and commitment to professional development.
- Organise day‑to‑day rotational staff and resources to ensure effective utilisation.
- Ensure patient needs and expectations are met or exceeded and all patients are seen within Trust and National targets.
- Ensure protocols and training are in place for all staff.
- Provide leadership and direct line management to radiographers, collaborating with Lead Superintendents and the Radiology manager.
- Provide line management support including appraisals.
- Assist recruitment and retention of rotational staff.
- Maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to all patients.
- Develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
