Job overview: The opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join the Acute Medical Unit at Epsom General Hospital working full time hours including weekends and bank holidays. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, empathetic and self-motivated individual to work within our team. Previous experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage, though not essential. You will need to have excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise with employees at all levels. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel is essential. You will also have the skills to handle all contacts confidently with compassion, patience and professionalism. You will be working as part of the team which will involve developing knowledge of the processes used to ensure that clients' needs are met. This is an important role which helps run an efficient service but is also an extremely rewarding one. Person specification:
- Education: Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above, ECDL, NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent.
- Experience: Experience of using a full range of IT/patient administration systems, experience of patient administration work in a healthcare setting, experience of face-to-face customer contact.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills, computer literate, with experience of using a keyboard, knowledge of NHS service provision including the pathway of care, knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes, understanding of medical terminology.
