The Discharge Lounge at Epsom Hospital plays a vital role in supporting patient flow and hospital capacity, ensuring patients are safely and efficiently transferred from an inpatient ward when they are fit to be discharged from hospital. The registered nurse within the discharge lounge plays an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care to patients. You will work both independently and collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team throughout the discharge process, working closely with the Clinical Site Management Team and wider ward teams. Responsibilities

  • Identify suitable patients and promote the use of the Discharge Lounge.
  • Support and encourage ward staff to utilise the service and ensure every patient's needs are met during their time within the Lounge.
  • Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team throughout the discharge process, in collaboration with the Clinical Site Management Team and wider ward teams.
  • Deliver safe, effective and compassionate care, with excellent communication, clinical judgement and organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving in a fast-paced environment.
