An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our experienced and supportive administrative team within the busy Urology Department at Epsom General Hospital. This role will primarily support our Stone Team, ensuring patients are monitored and progressed efficiently throughout their treatment pathway.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating surgical procedures, managing theatre scheduling, and overseeing Stone outpatient clinic bookings to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care.
- Working collaboratively with consultants, clinical nurse specialists, ward staff, theatre teams, and other departments to ensure patients progress smoothly through their treatment pathway.
- Managing outpatient clinic bookings, including scheduling new and follow-up appointments, clinic utilisation, and patient communication.
- Tracking and monitoring patient pathways to ensure RTT and other national waiting time standards are met, proactively identifying and resolving delays.
- Liaising with patients regarding appointments, admissions, investigations, and surgical procedures, providing a professional and compassionate service.
- Maintaining accurate patient records on hospital information systems, ensuring data quality and confidentiality at all times.
- Supporting the validation of waiting lists and contributing to service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.
- Undertaking any other administrative duties appropriate to the role to support the smooth running of the Urology service.
Qualifications:
- Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
Experience:
- Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems (including iCLIP).
- Experience of patient administration work in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of patient pathways (RTT / DM01 / Cancer).
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
Skills:
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Evidence of ability to prioritise workload and work without direct supervision.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
