Paediatric Staff Nurse - Band 5
To provide child centred, evidence based, high quality care to children and their families in the paediatric assessment and day unit setting.
To implement and evaluate family centred care and to be responsible for the delivery of care and assessment, development and evaluations of individual programmes of care
To take delegated responsibility for children working as part of a team to ensure care delivered is to a high standard
To be responsible for mentoring pre-registration students
Main duties of the job
To deliver evidence based care to a high standard, providing a holistic approach to nursing care, to children and young people admitted who require day admissions for tests or reviews from the medical team.

Qualifications
- RN Child with NMC registration
- Degree in relevant health subject
Experience
- Competent in IV drug administration or willing to do the training to acquire this
- Able to be responsive and flexible
- Worked with children
- Mentorship, teaching and assessing
- Oncology experience or willing to undertake the training for this
Knowledge
- Acute, chronic and emergency paediatric care
- Safeguarding children and Young People within the Department
- Awareness of clinical research/audit
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Caring and compassionate towards patients, families and colleagues
- Able to remain calm, focused and work under pressure
- Committed to personal and professional development
- Evidence of self awareness and reflective practice
- Able to do phlebotomy on children or willing to do the training for this
