An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Superintendent role at Epsom General Hospital. The MRI unit has recently undergone renovation and now features a newly installed Siemens Sola MRI scanner with advanced cardiac imaging capability. The department also operates a GE Artist MRI scanner, which supports a wide range of examinations across multiple specialties. This modernised facility provides advanced imaging capabilities and an excellent environment for delivering high-quality patient care and developing MRI services.

As MRI Superintendent, responsibilities would include providing professional, operational, and strategic leadership for the MRI service. This includes overseeing the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery, and maintaining high standards of patient care. The role involves managing and supporting the MRI team, coordinating staffing and training, and promoting continuous professional development. The Superintendent is also responsible for ensuring compliance with MRI safety standards and national guidelines, maintaining quality assurance processes, and supporting clinical governance and audit activities.

Main duties of the job:

  • To help lead the delivery of a safe MRI service for all users through sound specialist knowledge, participation in research and audit activity, user involvement and a commitment to the professional development of self and others.
  • To assume day‑to‑day organisation of the rotational staff and resources in the area they are working to ensure effective utilisation of available resources.
  • To ensure patient needs/expectations are met or exceeded and all patients are seen within Trust and National targets.
  • To help lead the MRI workload ensuring protocols and training are in place for all staff.
  • The post holder will provide leadership and direct line management to Radiographers, in collaboration with the Lead Superintendents with support from the Radiology manager.
  • To provide line management support including appraisals in line with the department’s needs.
  • To assist with the recruitment and retention of rotational staff within the department.
  • To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to all patients.
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • BSc Hons in Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC Management courses/Leadership
  • SOR/University Cannulation Certificate
  • Pgc/Masters in relevant course

Experience:

  • 3 years MRI Experience
  • Advance Practice in MRI
  • MRSO Training
