We are looking for an energetic, dynamic team player to join our arrhythmia team to cover a secondment for one year, within Epsom and St Helier Hospitals. This job is across both hospitals and involves working closely with the three arrhythmia consultants, performing nurse led cardioversion, making management plans and reviewing patients in clinic pre and post intervention. We provide on-site ablation and complex devices and nurse led ILR implantation.

You will have extensive cardiac background, ideally be an ALS provider and have expert ECG interpretation and cannulation skills. Previous arrhythmia experience is preferable. You will have enthusiasm for excellence in care provision and service development, working hard to streamline pathways and improve access for all patients.

Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will support the nurse led arrhythmia services throughout the trust, including nurse-led cardioversion.
  • You may be required to support other nurse-led services; including Rapid Access Chest Pain clinic, Heart failure service, Cardiac Rehabilitation and supporting cardiology investigations department.
  • The post holder will support diagnostic, referral and treatment pathways for cardiac patients across the care continuum from primary to tertiary care, engaging with healthcare professionals across the network area.
  • The post holder will ensure that the service offered is convenient and accessible to patients and will assist in ensuring that patients receive timely and streamlined care as well as contributing to reducing waiting times, waiting lists for treatment and inappropriate admissions to acute beds.
  • The post holder is required to play a key role in the operational and clinical management of cardiac patients and their families, working closely with clinical teams.
  • The post holder is expected to apply clinical expertise to meet the particular needs of cardiac patients and their families and will be expected to take part in the development of protocol driven management of patients and the administration of medications and therapies within patient group directives.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake the physical assessment course and the non-medical prescribing course within the next five years.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of significant professional development and experience with a focus on arrhythmia
  • Evidence of further qualification in cardiology
  • Management module

Experience:

  • Substantial experience and achievement in nursing cardiac patients
  • Experience of clinical audit.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Experience of developing clinical guidelines and clinical care pathways
  • Evidence of ability to develop services and influence outcomes
  • Proven commitment to cardiology nursing by evidence of professional development.

Knowledge:

  • Physical assessment and diagnostic skills
