Applications are invited for a 10 PA Specialist Grade doctor role in Community Paediatrics. This post is a replacement post and will be mainly based at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children which is on the St. Helier site; however, cross site working is encouraged and may be required. The post holder will help deliver Community Paediatric services for the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton. We are keen to support a suitable candidate to develop an area of interest which supplements the work of the department. There are no on-call commitments unless desired.
We currently offer our patients a wide range of services including diagnosis and management of all types of Developmental Problems e.g. Global Developmental Delay and Autism assessment in the under 5s, Motor Coordination Disorder, Neurodevelopmental disorders and Neuro-disability, Down syndrome and CLA clinics.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
- The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients.
- To comply with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’.
- To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in agreement with your Clinical Director.
- To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources.
- To participate in the Trust’s Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
- To maintain personal and professional development.
- To fully participate in Clinical Governance arrangements across the Trust.
- To participate in the delivery of educational activities and training of juniors.
Qualifications
- Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC.
- Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e. MRCP or equivalent.
- Community paediatric experience.
Knowledge
- Has attended a recognised management training event or will have such training on completion of CCT.
- Familiarity with issues of service organisation and development.
Skills
- High standard of clinical skill in Paediatrics and neurodisability.
- Experience in the assessment and management of Developmental disorders.
- Experience in dealing with children with complex medical needs.
Experience
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees.
- Ability to teach clinical skills.
- Experience of supervising junior doctors.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
