An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior pharmacy assistant to join the Pharmacy Homecare Team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with the requisite skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to join our existing team.
You will mainly be based in the pharmacy offices, within the pharmacy department. The role involves working closely with Trust colleagues, 3 rd party service providers, patients and others in the multi-disciplinary team. You will co-ordinate the ordering of prescriptions for delivery direct to patients, under homecare service agreements. In addition you will be expected to work closely with finance and pharmacy procurement teams ensuring timely processing of invoices; provide data for invoicing of high cost medicines and liaise with clinicians to ensure homecare prescriptions are provided on a timely basis.
The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of a computer, have proven organisational skills and demonstrate an attention to detail in their work. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the creation of official pharmacy homecare orders on the CMM pharmacy system and for placing the orders with the agreed 3 rd party homecare providers.
To reconcile homecare delivery notes against purchase orders and approve for payment, invoices and credit notes, in line with departmental policy.
To be responsible for the booking in of homecare items upon receipt of a proof of delivery (POD).
To be responsible for the dispensing of homecare prescriptions under the supervision of the Chief Technician High Cost Drugs/Homecare Services, using the Pharmacy Computer System (CMM), checking proof of delivery andreconciling dispensing records as required, in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
To assist in the efficient and economical running of the pharmacy homecare service and the management of requests for high cost drugs.
To support the Pharmacy Homecare team by contributing to the development of the Homecare services, including the launch of the CMM homecare module.
Assist in the management of the Homecare Diabetes Service, including patient funding, ordering, invoicing, clinic/patient queries and tracking orders.
To work in the dispensary at the weekend, as part of the 7-day Pharmacy service, as per the rota as well as the Bank holiday rota and lock-up rota.

Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or in progress or equivalent qualification
- Completion of dispensing unit as part of NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF)
Experience
- Experience of working in hospital pharmacy
- Experience of using CMM
- Experience of working within Pharmacy homecare services
- Experience of using CMM Homecare module
- Familiar with invoicing/ procurement processes
Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organisational skills
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
- Familiar with Blueteq and high cost drug funding processes
- Experience of training other staff
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and databases
Skills
- Demonstrate able to work independently, unsupervised
- Manage own workload priorities
