Job overview:
Senior Clinical Fellow – ST4+ Level in Renal Medicine, full time (100% clinical). One fixed term 12 months starting 5 August 2026. The role is based at St Helier Hospital and is extendable upon satisfactory performance.
Main duties of the job:
- Perform clinical duties and responsibilities expected of ST4+ level doctors.
- Provide on-call cover for the Renal Service in a 1 in 9 rota.
- Develop subspecialty interests in Renal Medicine during the tenure.
- Participate in clinical research, audit and quality improvement projects.
- Support submission of abstracts to national and international conferences.
- Receive training in interventional nephrology and perform renal-specific procedures.
Key responsibilities:
- Clinical management of adult and paediatric renal patients.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior staff.
- Maintain accurate and legible clinical notes.
- Engage in continuing professional development.
Person specification – qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent
- GMC registration or eligibility
- MRCP(UK) or equivalent
- BSc or equivalent
- Prizes or honours in MBBS or equivalent
- SCE Nephrology
- National Renal Training Programme
Clinical experience:
- Experience of general internal medicine and Renal Medicine.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by appointment in line with GMC standards.
- Experience in multiple specialties.
Teaching experience:
- Evidence of teaching experience and exposure to various teaching methods.
- Teaching qualification(s).
Management skills:
- Experience and ability to work in a multi-professional team.
Research experience:
- Understanding of audit, research and clinical risk management.
- Active participation in audit projects.
- Prizes and other academic distinctions.
Personal attributes:
