This role is part of the Anaesthetics team at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will manage elective, day case and emergency surgeries. They will be responsible for attending weekly educational departmental meetings and providing clinical governance.
Main duties of the jobThe Anaesthetic department covers a wide variety of elective, day case, and emergency surgery across two sites. The post holder will be encouraged to attend weekly educational departmental meetings which occur on both sites.
On Call DutiesThe post holder will be required to be on call at either Epsom or St Helier Hospital. The senior clinical fellow will be supported at all times by the Consultants and be expected to supervise junior fellows. As per experience and seniority, the on call rota slot will be allocated either on the senior tier (labour ward and paediatric emergencies) or junior tier (StH theatres or Epsom HDU).
Qualifications- Registration with GMC
- MBBS or equivalent
- Primary FRCA or equivalent
- Recognised RCoA approved anaesthetic qualification
- Minimum 24 months experience in anaesthetics (international experience considered)
- Provider or instructor in ATLS, APLS, ALS or similar
- 6 months UK experience in anaesthetics
- 3 months independent experience in obstetric anaesthesia
Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements.
Teaching / Research / Governance- Understanding of clinical governance and participation in audit
- Current successful appraisal and revalidation
- Experience of teaching undergraduates
- Presentations at postgraduate meetings
- Evidence of research and/or publications
- Evidence of audit projects
- Ability to teach junior staff
