The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day functional management of the South West Thames Renal and Transplant Division across the service's geography, supporting the Divisional Director of Operations (DDO) and participating in the Trust’s Senior Management on‑call rota.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of operational and quality, performance, and finance standards
  • Optimisation of the patient pathway, ensuring that patients are streamed to the most appropriate pathway for their care needs
  • Identification and development of new pathways of care in conjunction with clinical leads
  • Development of strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to further enhance the patient pathway
  • Supporting both sites to ensure optimal staffing levels are reached, particularly in relation to medical staffing

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: Graduate level or equivalent academic or healthcare professional qualification; Evidence of continuing professional development; Masters degree or doctorate in management
  • Experience: Experience of budget and operational performance management; Senior operational management experience including significant budget and staff management; Health service sector experience; Experience of working across organisational boundaries; Evidence of ability to lead successful change
  • Skills and knowledge: Highly developed leadership skills; Excellent communication skills both written and oral; Ability to facilitate change, including deployment of service modernisation techniques

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
