We are looking for new Cleaning Assistants to help keep our hospital clean and improve patient experience. While physically challenging at times, this role allows post holders to make a real difference by ensuring that we provide the best possible environment to assist patient recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides cleaning services in accordance with training, throughout the hospital as assigned by their Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensures high standards of cleaning within both clinical and non‑clinical areas of the hospital.
  • All areas are to be cleaned to the prevailing standards.
  • Cleans ward areas according to a schedule ensuring the environment is to the highest standard, and that infection risks are kept to a minimum.
  • Responsible for cleaning during and after reported infectious outbreaks to reduce/remove the risk of infection throughout the hospital.
  • Brings to the attention of the line manager any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that pose danger or risks to health and safety.
  • Clean clinical & non‑clinical areas (including sanitary areas and thoroughfares), ensuring the hospital is perceived as clean from the moment of entry.
  • Carries out ad‑hoc tasks as required by their supervisor to ensure the hospital remains contractually compliant.
  • Provides a great level of customer service to all patients, staff and various stakeholders.

St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000‑strong workforce.

Please note that whilst we provide a 24/7 service at this moment in time, we are ONLY looking to recruit staff who can work evening shifts (5pm-8pm) Monday - Friday. A total of 15 hours per week. Previous applicants in the last 9 months need not apply.

Salary and Hours:
