ESTH Trust are looking for Band 5 Estates Mechanical Technicians to work in the Property Estates team at a Band 5 - 37.5 hours per week. This role will be based at St Helier Hospital but the successful candidate may be asked to work trust-wide across Epsom, St Helier Hospitals, Sutton Healthcare and Surrey Downs.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out highly complex fault finding and maintenance on engineering plant and equipment across the Trust.
  • Work to stringent timescales and within statutory guidelines.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call system.
  • Provide day-to-day contact with internal and external stakeholders regarding sensitive, complex and confidential issues; present verbal, written and numerical information to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Provide stakeholders updates and potential disruptions, and organise planned shutdowns.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks.
  • Fault find on complex mechanical systems.
  • Escort contractors and manage personal jobs on the CAFM via PDA.
  • Be part of the on-call rota; support in mechanical system shutdowns and isolations.
  • Carry out planned maintenance of calorifiers, heat exchangers and pumpsets; identify and rectify faults in heating and domestic hot water systems including boiler resets.
  • Fault find on complex air handling units and refrigeration plant; carry out regular maintenance as required.
  • Work on medical gas equipment (e.g., changing O-rings/washers) and work on live systems when supervised.
  • Operate Building Management Systems and interrogate/change programmes as required.
  • Carry out tap and TMV maintenance, cleaning, disinfection and temperature setting.
  • Install plumbing goods (toilets, sinks, macerators, point-of-use water heaters).
  • Mentor junior members and apprentices; host contractors and stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for information upkeep of the CAFM; investigate incidents and report back to management; produce engineering reports for safety groups and trust committees as requested.
  • Be conversant with CAFM handheld PDA system, and with BMS and Bold systems.
  • Provide and receive complex/sensitive information; communicate project information with internal and external professionals including senior managers to ensure compliance with statutory and HTM requirements.
  • Work with relevant services within the Trust to ensure due process and governance in additional works delivery.
  • Take part in estates callout roster; support department by carrying out other duties that reasonably fit within the scope of the job.
  • Assist visitors, patients and staff during incidental contact; assist in grievances and disciplinary issues when required.
