Overview
As a porter, you could be moving:
- patients on trolleys or in wheelchairs
- stores and equipment
- samples of patients\’ blood
- linens
- post and parcels
- waste
- cylinders of gas
- trolleys of food and drink
Depending on where you work in a hospital, you may have other duties including:
- cleaning and tidying outside areas and gritting in cold weather
- cleaning indoors
- replacing curtains round beds in wards
We need 1 porter for St Helier Hospital and 3 for Epsom Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and movement of patients, stores, equipment, samples, linens, post, parcels, waste, gas cylinders, and trolleys of food and drink within hospital settings.
- Carry out other duties as required by location, including cleaning outdoor areas, gritting in cold weather, and indoor cleaning.
- Replace curtains around beds in wards where needed.

The StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust are seeking enthusiastic & experienced Porters to join our pool of Staff Bank workers. Applicants must be physically fit and available to work in a variety of shift patterns across Epsom & St Helier Hospital sites. Porters are essential to ensuring goods and items are delivered where needed and that patients are in the right place for treatment. If you are interested and available please apply today.
