An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join Ward A5, our Acute Frailty Unit at St Helier Hospital. We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses as well as nurses looking to develop their career in caring for older people and those living with frailty.
Ward A5 is a dynamic and supportive environment dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centred care to elderly and frail patients with complex health needs. As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable skills and experience in acute frailty, geriatric medicine, and comprehensive patient assessment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your clinical confidence, develop your nursing practice, and participate in a structured preceptorship programme designed to support newly qualified nurses during the transition from student to registered practitioner. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your professional development while receiving guidance from experienced nurses and senior colleagues.
We are looking for individuals who are caring, enthusiastic, and committed to providing outstanding patient care. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Provide safe, compassionate care to our patients, including assessment, planning, and delivery of treatments with safe and timely discharge. Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and respond to changes in condition. Support patients and families, work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, and contribute to quality improvement, audits, and mentoring of junior staff.
St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
At gesh we are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any flexibility they may need during the recruitment process.
